Forward2me used Instagram to tally how many times certain shoes appeared in feeds based on their accompanying hashtags.
The subtle design of the NMD, available in black, pink, white, and grey amassed a whopping 2,432,395 tags on the app.
Adidas dominated the top five which also saw the brands Kanye West line – the esteemed Yeezys – in second place, with Vans in third, Adidas Superstars in fourth, and Converse All-Stars in fifth place.
Yeezy 350s gave the NMDs a good run for their money with its own respectable 1,647,719 tagged posts on Instagram.
Nike Air Maxes made their first appearance in sixth place, closely followed by its Air Huaraches before Adidas returned with two more popular sneakers in the form of the Neo and Ultra Boost.
And no, dad trainers, otherwise known as the Nike Monarch, did not make it to the list, unfortunately.
