MCX Gold futures were trading 0.20 per cent, or Rs 58 higher at Rs 29,480 per 10 grams at 10:24 am (IST). MCX Silver futures were down 0.04 per cent, or Rs 15, at Rs 37,926 per 1 kg at around the same time.
SPDR Gold Trust GLD, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, said its holdings stood at 796.96 down 3.24 tonnes.
Holdings of the largest silver-backed exchange-traded-fund (ETF), New York's iShares Silver Trust SLV, stood at 10246.51 tonnes, remained unchanged from the previous business day.
Precious metals are trading mix on COMEX today. "We expect prices to trade rangebound to lower for the day, as the dollar held steady, after the US Federal Reserve kept interest rates steady," said Nirmal Bang Securities in its report.
On the global front, gold inched higher in early trade.
